Buddy-Programme | HFT Stuttgart students accompany newly arriving exchange students: - Pick up at the airport Stuttgart (if possible) - Organize dormitory keys - Accompany initial formalities and much more. As soon as you have the information about your journey, fill it in directly in the online application program Mobility Online. Between end of August and September, depending on your arrival time, you will get an email with the contact details. | |
Studierendenwerk Stuttgart | It is a mandatory amount for all students. This means that the services of the Studierendenwerk can be used by all students. More information you could find at the link. | |
Time of Arrival | We recommend arriving a few days before the mandatory Welcome Reception. This gives you enough time to complete all the necessary formalities and settle in. Lectures then start directly the following week. | |

VISA (for non-EU citizens) and VisumPROOF OF FINANCIAL MEANS | Please apply for the visa as soon as possible if necessary. According to our experience, it Obtaining a visa for Germany takes at least many weeks until the visa is issued6 weeks. We recommend applying for a visa 6-8 weeks before departure to avoid late arrival. Due to the lack of staff at the Stuttgart visa office, we recommend that that ALL those who require a visa absolutely apply for it at home. Non-EU students must submit proof of financial means when applying for a visa, at the latest when applying for a residence permit in Germany. The proof of financial means serves to demonstrate that every international student can cover their living costs. | |

Organizational information | Please do not plan or book any travel in advance for the time of your stay in Stuttgart. Only after your arrival, you will have all the dates around the studies. Some of these are compulsory events. Likewise, you should only plan and book your departure once you are aware of all the dates. | |
Student Dormitory | Accommodation in Stuttgart is not cheap. Therefore, we had already recommended in the information documents for your application to apply for a room from Studierendenwerk Stuttgart. If you have not yet done so and are now interested, please follow these 2 steps: 1. Apply directly online and confirm the link you will get some days later directly. 2. After successful application, send the tenant number (letter will be sent by email) by email to incoming@hft-stuttgart.de.
